Software & Electronics

Failure of all assistance systems at certain locations

At certain locations, all assistance systems reproducibly fail for a short time. Corresponding warning lights indicate this. A short time later, all assistance systems are available again. I have received several dozen reports from all over Europe.

Affected vehicles: ENYAQ, ELROQ, SW4.x, SW5.x

Cause: Currently still unknown, it is suspected that external interference factors are affecting the system of the Skoda electric car.

Workaround: None known, continue driving and wait until the systems are active again.

First mentioned in Community News February 2025

The 13″ infotainment display shows graphic errors or moving patterns and can no longer be operated.

Affected vehicles: ENYAQ, ELROQ, SW4.x, SW5.x

Cause: Currently still unknown, it is suspected to be a crash of the graphics driver.

Workaround: Switch off the vehicle and wait 10-15 minutes (the so-called bus rest, i.e. the internal data bus restarts)

Although your hands are on the steering wheel, the message appears that you should take over the controls. In particular, certain grip positions do not work or only work to a limited extent.

Affected vehicles: ENYAQ, SW3.x, SW4.x

Cause: In some ENYAQs, there is a defect in the hand recognition on the steering wheel (SW3.x ENYAQ). In newer models, this appears to be a software error (SW4.x ENYAQ).

Workaround: Change the position of the hands on the steering wheel / re-grip

Solution from Skoda: The steering wheels have been replaced on some ENYAQs with SW3.x

Charging & Energy

Charging limit shifts to 100 % by itself

The charging limit is set to 100% although it has not been moved manually and there are no different settings in a charging location.

Affected vehicles: all electric cars (ENYAQ & ELROQ), all SW versions

Cause: Unknown, probably an error in the software

Workaround: manual check before charging, manual reset to less than 100%

Solution from Skoda: unknown

History / current status

Known since the beginning of 2023

When plugging in for charging, the charge level shown on the display drops by a few per cent. After charging, the charge level displayed jumps by a few per cent after a few minutes.

Vehicles affected: ENYAQ, ELROQ, SW4.x, SW5.x

Cause: Unknown. A software error is suspected, but it is more likely that the battery management system does not yet have sufficient data for a precise calculation. It is noticeable that mainly new vehicles are affected. There is no adjustment when charging to 100%.

Workaround: Experimentally, you can try to charge several times from very low charge levels to 100%. There is no evidence that this really helps.

Solution from Skoda: unkown

History / current status

Known since May 2024

If charging locations are configured, the vehicle is not charged or the charging location cannot be created in the software

Vehicles affected: ENYAQ and ELROQ, all SW versions

Cause: unknown

Workaround: Do not use charging locations

Solution from Skoda: unkown

History / current status

Known since 2021

When charging the car with PV surplus, the charging process stops as soon as there is no more surplus and does not restart with the presence of PV surplus

Affected vehicles: ENYAQ, SW3.x

Cause: When updating the software to 3. 7, it can happen that the AC onboard charger of the ENYAQ is not restarted and then causes this error

Workaround: Pull fuse 3 and plug it in again (ATTENTION: Do this at your own risk!)

Solution from Skoda: Rebooting the AC onboard charger in the workshop

History / current status

Known since update to SW 3.7

Video available

If the charging location is set with delayed charging, the set charging limit is not reached .

Affected vehicles: All models, all SW versions

Cause: Unknown, suspected to be a software error that leads to a delayed start of charging or that does not sufficiently take the charging power into account.

Workaround: avoid delayed charging

Solution from Skoda: unkown

History / current status

Known since 2021

When charging with AC, the vehicle loses a phase after 10-30 minutes and only charges with 7.2kW instead of 11kW

Affected vehicles: ENYAQ with SW 3.x

Cause: Software error that recognises a phase as faulty and switches it off.

Workaround: reconnect

Solution from Skoda: A software update is necessary and in progress

Solution communicated by Skoda in December 2024

Known since SW 3.7

You often receive the message that the ‘battery protection limit’ has been reached, which is triggered by the vehicle as soon as the voltage of the 12V battery falls below 11.8V. KESSY no longer functions and in serious cases the vehicle can no longer be started.

Affected vehicles: all vehicles, primarily second generation ENYAQs

Cause: unknown, it is assumed that the 12V battery is not recharged often enough, there was a batch of faulty batteries or that a classic wet battery is not suitable for the increased current requirements of the vehicle electronics and software (access with the app)

Workaround: it helps to switch on the vehicle or to drive or charge it so that the 12V battery is recharged. You can limit access to the MySkoda app by switching off “Wake up vehicle” in the profile

Solution from Skoda: There are instructions for workshops, the 12V battery is often replaced

Vehicle functions & comfort

Headlight levelling defective

On vehicles without Matrix LED, the headlamp levelling function no longer works. Settings in the vehicle are not adopted by the headlights.

Affected vehicles: Vehicles without matrix LED, primarily with SW3.x

Cause: There is a software error that prevents the position from being adjusted in the headlamp control unit.

Workaround: none, have the setting in the centre position carried out by a workshop or reset/restart the control unit.

Solution from Skoda: Replacement of the control unit, but this is not the cause and the problem may occur again

Progress / current status

Skoda is working on a solution

The brake pedal squeaks when used, lubricating the moving parts does not help

Vehicles affected: all

Cause: The squeaking comes from the brake booster, the function is not restricted

Workaround: none

Solution from Skoda: Replacement of the brake booster

Progress / current status

solved, workshop visit necessary

The electric seat does not move to the position associated with the profile of the user logging in, but remains in front of it (further back).

Affected vehicles: All ENYAQ and ELROQ with electrically adjustable seats

Cause: unknown, it is suspected that it could be a safety function

Workaround: Manually move the seat into the correct position using the buttons on the side

Solution from Skoda: unknown

History / current status

Known since the introduction of “comfort entry” with SW3.0

There is no noticeable difference between the individual settings on vehicles with DCC suspension. All settings feel the same. Not to be confused with correctly functioning DCC, where the difference is simply too small and subjectively imperceptible.

Affected vehicles: ENYAQ with SW 4.x

Cause: Software error in the control of the DCC, so that the driving mode buttons “Comfort, Normal and Sport” are ineffective.

Workaround: none

Solution from Skoda: Software update of the control unit in the workshop

Community Feedback & Wishes

Filter for charging providers

When planning the route, it is not possible to filter for other charging providers except IONITY and Powerpass (Skoda’s own service) or to set that route planning with a charging stop should preferably be carried out with specific providers.

Affected vehicles: All ENYAQ and ELROQ

Cause: Function not provided by VW/Cariad (Skoda), instead focus on own charging provider “Powerpass” speaks Elli

Workaround: Charge planning with third-party app in Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, manual search for charging stations in the navigation software

Solution from Skoda: none

History / current status

Presented to board members at VAC in September 2024

There is no battery preheating to optimise charging in cold weather or with a cold battery

Affected vehicles: ENYAQ with SW 3.x

Cause: Not provided for in the software, but hardware is available in the vehicle

Workaround: “YoYo” driving shortly before the charging stop (accelerate, recuperate and repeat in quick succession)

Solution from Skoda: currently none, update of the software for PreHeating under discussion

Known since ENYAQ production in 11/2020

Only one phone can be connected to Android Auto or Apple Carplay at a time. Switching between the connected phones is difficult or extremely annoying and not easy to do.

Affected vehicles: all ENYAQ and ELROQ

Cause: The “faster” smartphone connects and starts CarPlay or Android Auto

Workaround: Put the smartphone that should not connect into flight mode until the other phone is connected.

Solution from Skoda: unkown
